Here is some info about things on Edline:

Calendar on Edline

There is a calendar on Edline. This calendar includes a variety of things: HW assignments, tests, quizzes, other assignments/projects/presentations/etc., special events, other due dates for the class or school, other important dates, etc. If you click on "My Content" and then "Combined Calendar," that lists every event, test, and assignment. You can also view each class' invididual calendar by clicking on whichever class you want.

This calendar is meant to be a back-up for learning about assignments, not the sole way to know what is due. Everything that is due including homework, tests, quizzes, projects, etc. is written on the chalkboard. In addition, I tell the students what the assignments are. I also tell them about any extra things going on. The students all have a copy of the spelling lists and can look up the Bible verse for the test in their own Bible. This is not supposed to be a replacement for writing things down. The students are still responsible to write things in their student planner. On rare occasions, something on the calendar may be wrong or missing. I try to keep it updated, but sometimes I get very busy and forget. This is another good reason why your child should have everything written down in their planner. Click on an event to get more information about it.

If you look at the class page after the day the homework was assigned, it will not be listed under Calendar, because that date has already passed. However, if you click the little icon to the right of Calendar, you will be able to see the calendar for the entire month, and the assignment will still be there on the day it was assigned.

Classes on Edline

You are able to view each class separately on Edline. There are three important sections: News, Calendar, and Current Grades.

News will have different files, assignments, or notes. In language arts, the spelling lists and assignment instructions are there. In math and science, class notes are there.

The calendar has any tests, quizzes, and homework assignments for that class only.

Current Grades is what you click on to see updated grades. After the quarter is over, final grades will be posted as Final Grades: Quarter 1 (or 2, etc.). Current Grades will then refer to the current grades of the next quarter only. Work and Spiritual won't have anything on those pages, so you don't need to worry about that. Each test, quiz, or assignment has a name, and because the name length is limited, there is a longer, more descriptive name listed at the bottom of the grade list.

Other Info on Edline

  • A family directory for the entire school (broken down by grades), which includes child and parent names, addresses, and phone numbers
  • Student Life Standards, which includes the Dress Code, beginning on p. 4
  • The Eagle (a weekly publication, which can also be found on the school website)
  • The school's attendance policy (which can also be found on the school website)
  • A bell schedule
  • Activities and sports information

    Book It!

    Book It! Reading Log

    How Book It! works:

  • The Book It! Program starts October 1 and ends March 31.

  • Just read 60 minutes a week for one month in order to get a free personal pan pizza. That's only 10 minutes a day, with one day off.

  • You must read 60 minutes a week. You can divide the time up in any way during that week, but you cannot overlap weeks. (Ex: You can read 60 min. on a Saturday and be done for the week or split it up. But you cannot read 90 minutes for the week and have it count for the next week also. You may read more than 60 minutes a week, of course, but you have to read 60 minutes each week for it to count for Book It!)

  • Books need to be age-appropriate. Magazines, TV/video/computer game guides, and comic books don't count. Required reading also does not count. The newspaper is fine.

  • Fill out the reading log and have your parent sign it at the end of the month.

  • At the end of the month, if the goal has been met, hand in the reading log to me and I will give you a pizza award certificate.

  • Take the certificate to a Pizza Hut restaurant and you'll be given a free, one-topping Personal Pan Pizza. On the first visit, you'll also receive a Book It! card with clip and a sticker for the card. (There is no purchase necessary and the pizza can be taken to go.)

  • On each visit after that, you'll get another Personal Pan Pizza and a sticker for the card.

  • If you meet the reading goals all six months of the program, you will be rewarded at the restaurant with a Book It! All-Star Reader Award. In addition, you will get a reward from Miss Crachi.

  • Book It! reading can be used to earn Miss Crachi Money as well. Just keep track of the pages you've read in addition to how long you read, and record the pages on the extra reading sheet.
